You
are here: ADHD Foundation
- Children & Young People - Participation
Programme
The Compulsory
Communication Project is a participation programme for children
and young people aged 10-19 which is designed by the young people
themselves.
Our
aim is:
We
plan fun activities and trips, working towards accreditation
and completion of projects around everyday issues young people
face.
These include:
-
Drug
and Alcohol Awareness
-
-
-
-
-
-
When
young people complete the programme they are recognised and rewarded
for their hard work and commitment, receiving a trip or activity
of their choice which is agreed by the group.
-
Peer
Mentoring scheme:
Mentors and mentees come together on a weekly basis
to offer monitored support and guidance. Mentors can
work towards an ASDAN accreditation.
-
Duke
of Edinburgh Award:
Young people complete the fun activity based programme
and gain a nationally recognised accreditation, and
participate in a three day residential organised by
the young people themselves.
-
Heartmath
Programme:
Young people are trained in how to use computer software
which improves breathing patterns, resulting in reduced
levels of stress and anxiety and overall improved well
being.
We also
have a Youth
Forum,
accessed via the Compulsory Communication Project’s Facebook
page. Here young people can find out what’s going on, contribute
to topical discussions and share their thoughts and opinions in
a controlled and monitored online group.
We
are trying to get our voices heard as loudly as possible! The
Youth
Board
meets on a monthly basis to look at how we can action what young
people want, how we can publicise all of the good work the Foundation
does, how we can fund our work and organise events for all our
service users.
