The National Neurodiversity Youth Council

The National Neurodiversity Youth Council is a visionary project lead by young people to ensure their voice is included in neurodiversity advocacy.  This national project that has created a forum of 20 passionate young people, aged 16-24, to represent each charity in the coalition.

The Council will work collaboratively to bring youth voices into the national conversation around neurodiversity. These young people aim support others overcome health challenges, educational underachievement and barriers to employment by advocating for change in education, health and employment policies and services.

Objectives of The Neurodiversity National Youth Council:  

  1. To amplify the voices of young people with neurodiversity on matters that affect them.  
  1. To support young people in building a community that will co-produce educational and support resources for other neurodiverse  people, to enable them to overcome health challenges, educational underachievement and barriers to employment by advocating for change in education, health and employment policies and services.  
  1. To create partnerships and collaboration with other neurodiverse charities to ensure young neurodiverse people are always at the forefront of actions and decisions that affect them. 
  2. To influence policy and practice by having meetings with ministers/government officials stressing the importance of listening to young people who are neurodiverse and to take their opinions and views seriously (in accordance with the UNCRC).
