ADHD Foundation Closure
It is with great sadness that the Trustees of the ADHD Foundation, The Neurodiversity Charity, announce that the organisation has ceased trading and, following advice from an Insolvency Practitioner, is now entering a formal insolvency process which is expected to result in liquidation.
For over 20 years, the ADHD Foundation led the way in championing neurodiversity across the United Kingdom and internationally. In that time, the Foundation trained over 250,000 professionals, supported more than 120,000 families, and provided therapeutic services to over 28,000 children and young people.
The charity also convened over 10,000 delegates through its annual national and international conferences, positioning itself as a global thought leader. Its Neurodiversity Umbrella Project, adopted by hundreds of schools and businesses each year and showcased across Europe, the Middle East and North America, became a powerful cultural symbol of inclusion. The Foundation further empowered the next generation by creating the National Neurodiversity Youth Council, ensuring young people’s voices shaped the conversation about neurodiversity. These contributions transformed understanding, improved lives, and helped move the conversation on, from stigma and deficit to strength, inclusion, and human potential.
With great sadness, the Trustees have accepted professional advice that the Foundation is insolvent and is now entering a formal insolvency process, which is expected to result in liquidation.
We recognise the uncertainty this creates for many, and we deeply regret that we cannot continue to provide our services. We are grateful to our partners across health, education, and social care who share our mission, and we trust that the work we began will continue in other hands.
We also want to place on record our heartfelt thanks to all our staff, past and present; our volunteers, past and present; and our patrons, funders, and former trustees, whose passion, dedication, and support made the Foundation what it is. The achievements of the Foundation belong to them as much as to anyone.
The Trustees would also like to acknowledge the contribution of Dr Tony Lloyd, who led the Foundation for many years until his retirement. His leadership and vision placed neurodiversity firmly on the national agenda and helped establish the Foundation as a leading voice in this field.
Though the charity is closing, its legacy is not one of endings but of transformation. The thousands of children, families, and professionals empowered through our work carry that legacy forward. The Foundation has transformed lives, and that legacy remains.
