Neurodiversity Clinic

Steps to Assessment

These are the steps you can expect to go through with a neurodiversity clinic screening.

Step 1: Referral Form

To access either Service 1 (Full ADHD Screen) or Service 2 (QbTest Only), you must complete and submit our online referral form. If you experience any issues completing the form, please contact the clinic team at: [email protected].

Step 2: Triage

All referrals are subject to triage before being accepted. Please note, the ADHD Foundation is not a psychiatric service and therefore may decline referrals where more specialist input is required.

In addition, the QbTest is a Type 1A medical device and is governed by strict usage criteria. Within 7 days of submitting your referral form, a member of our admin team will contact you to request any additional information needed to process your referral.

It is essential that the information provided in the referral form is accurate and complete. If information is withheld it may impact the outcome of the assessment and we may not be able to refer you on to our Associate Psychiatrist. In some cases, withholding information pertinent to the assessment could result in no outcome for the assessment.

Step 3: Payment

Once your referral is accepted, you will receive an invoice. The cost is £450 for a full ADHD screen or £300 for a QbTest only.

Please note that appointments cannot be booked until payment has been made. All appointments are non-refundable, including if you change your mind about proceeding with the assessment.

Step 4: Full Assessment / Screen

After payment is received, you will be sent a link to book your appointment slot. The full screen appointment will last approximately two hours and includes either a QbTest and ACE Interview (in-person), or a QbCheck and ACE Interview (if remote).

Following the QbTest or QbCheck, there will be a short break before starting the ACE Interview. ADHD rating scales will also be sent in advance of your appointment. Please note that your results report will not be completed unless all required questionnaires are returned.

QbTest Only-

If you book a QbTest only appointment, you will not be sent any rating scales or take part in the ACE Interview. You will still be allocated a two-hour appointment slot, although the appointment itself will be completed within one hour.

It is essential that you arrive at the start of your scheduled time. Please be aware that we cannot refer you to the Associate Psychiatrist if you have only completed the QbTest.

Step 5: Screening Results

Following your appointment, our Assistant Psychologist will compile a report based on all assessment data. You will receive this report two weeks after the appointment.

This is a screening outcome and not a formal diagnosis. If the results suggest the presence of ADHD, you can then decide whether to pursue a formal diagnosis. We can only refer you to a Psychiatrist or Paediatrician if you have completed the full assessment (QbTest/QbCheck, ACE Interview, and rating scales).

If you initially completed the QbTest only and later choose to pursue a formal diagnosis, there is an additional charge of £225. This fee covers the remaining elements of Service 1, including the clinical interview and rating scales, and allows us to produce a new and more comprehensive results report.

Please refer to our brochure for full details on next steps and costs related to accessing a formal diagnosis.
